The first college of the Malankara Orthodox Church was started at Pathanamthitta  in 1952. There are 4000 students getting their education here. The college has 147 teaching and 147 administrative staff on its rolls. There are degree courses in English, Malayalam, Hindi, Economics, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Commerce. The college also has research facilities  in the Departments of Malayalam, Hindi, Zoology and Botany. The College also has a study center of the Indira Gandhi National Open University. 
A PGDCA Course in Computer Science is also offered.
