St. Kuriakose Seminary in Kundara was started in 1915. His Holiness Baselios Geevarghes II Catholicose planned the activities of the southern dioceses residing in Kundara. Its objectives were imparting training to priests, uplift of the Dalit community and setting up educational institutions. Since 1982 Ramban Cyril is the Manager.

The Thazhakara Seminary also known as Malankara Syrian Seminary. was started on 25 Dhanu, 1038 by Parampil Idychandy Kathanar to cater the spiritual needs of few families at Thazhakara, Mavelikara.
The Seminary's first Youth Movement "St.Thomas Youth League" was founded by Kallarakal Jain Thomas with the blessings of the then Vicar Vadakkethalakal Rev.Fr.George Zachariah Jr. The Youth League was officially inaugurated by the then Kollam Metropolitan H.G.Mathews Mar Coorilos.(the Present Catholicose) The St.Thomas Youth Movement, along with the Church members and the Sthree Samajam, played a vital role in making the Malankara Association which was held at Thazhakara MSS School premise on 16 May 1977 to elect the Bishops a grand success.
